The 2009 British League Conference at the Quality Hotel in Birmingham saw the presentation of the Player of the Season Awards. The Awards were decided upon by the British League Committee taking into account the Player of the Match Comments on the Match Scoresheets, a player’s record, a player’s improvement over the Season and the impact a player had on their team’s overall performance.
Winners included the experienced hands - Stephen Brunskill (Ormesby), Tibor Kadar (Urban Progress) and Jason Ramage (Sycamore), the star of the ETTA Grand Prix Circuit - Shuying Xu (BATTS Team Peniel) and three young men with really bright futures - Igor Morais (DHS Greenhouse Progress), Sam Walker (Bribar Redlands Rookies) and Oliver Langlois (Sporting Bet Guernsey) .
The overall Player of the Season Award was presented to Gareth Herbert (TTK Greenhouse), no longer in quite the same form as when he was part of the England set-up but still one of the most exciting players to watch in the Competition and still capable of putting together a run of points every bit as good as any other player in the League.
